Is your lawn not living up to your expectations?
If your lawn is stressed and anemic, then our lawn renovation services are just what you need to get it back to health. There are four basic methods we use to rejuvenate turf grass:
Dethatching – The purpose of dethatching is to allow air and water to penetrate through this dead grass layer to get to the roots. It is not necessary to dig out all the thatch – simply scratching it with a rake opens up the thatch layer to oxygen which breaks it down and begins to add nitrogen. This is a great boost for a lawn in springtime!
Core aeration – Core aeration punctures the ground, pulling out a core of soil and grass. Aeration alleviates compaction on the grass roots and allows for better uptake of water and nutrients. The plugs are left on the lawn to break down and return nutrients to the soil. Core aeration is typically done in the fall.
Top dressing – Top dressing lawns with compost improves soil quality, moisture retention, and nutrient uptake. At Trimmers Landscaping, we have a unique method of applying our own nutrient-rich compost to existing lawns. Over a period of several years, topdressing will help turf grass to withstand summer heat and resist weed growth. Top dressing is ideally done in the fall and works well in combination with core aeration.
Overseeding – Lawns that are thin or patchy benefit from over seeding with new grass seed in the fall, after the summer heat and weed season is over. There are two methods we use to overseed lawns: broadcasting the seed after aeration or top dressing; or slice seeding seed directly into the thatch layer of the existing lawn.
