Nothing gives you the “big picture” like a landscape design.
At Trimmers Landscaping, we take a holistic approach to landscape planning and management – that’s why we have a landscape architect on staff with over 25 years’ experience. It’s crazy to take on a landscaping project without a plan!
A professional landscape design:
- provides the framework for creativity and continuity
- documents plants and structures within the landscape
- provides a baseline for cost controls
- improves communication between landscaper and client
Our process. Landscape design projects always start with the question, “what would you do with my yard?” That’s a short question that takes a few steps to answer!
At Trimmers, our initial landscape design consultation is free. We can discuss some ideas and suggestions and talk about budget. For a more comprehensive plan and proposal, we begin our design process – which may involve another meeting and several revisions to come up with a plan that our new client will be thrilled with. We charge for this design process, however, we will discount some or all of the design fees from the landscape installation project.
Where do we start? Our design strategy always starts with function.
Function. The first phase in designing a quality landscape is to determine scale, usage and flow – how the property will be used, and what elements are needed to make them functional. This might mean a retaining wall, a walkway, privacy screening, or a patio for gathering areas.
Aesthetics. When we have determined the necessary elements – the “bones” of the plan – we then begin aesthetics. This is where we decide colors, plant selections, lighting and many other elements that create the desired atmosphere.
Budget. Sometimes the “dream landscape” doesn’t fit the reality budget. That’s okay – it’s why we have a plan! We can now make modifications such as reducing plant size, material options, or completing the project in several phases.
Communication is a top priority at Trimmers Landscaping. We enjoy educating our clients and partnering with them to see their ideal landscape come to fruition. The finished product is practical and beautiful because our clients have been involved with the planning process from the very beginning.
